The mark of remarkable.

The official Alberta Whisky logo will serve as a trusted mark of a made-in-Alberta, premium world-class spirit. The logo features images of Alberta grains, water and landscapes within the Alberta shield.

“The Alberta name means something. It stands for quality, hard work and products people can trust. This logo gives consumers confidence they're choosing the real thing and helps share Alberta's story with the world.”

Danielle Smith, Premier

By law, Alberta Whisky must be made using 100 per cent Alberta water and a defined proportion of grains sourced from local farms, anchoring production in Alberta’s agriculture sector. Participation is voluntary, but only products that meet these standards may use the designation “Alberta Whisky” or display the official logo.

“Across Alberta, distillers are turning local ingredients into something we can all be proud of. The new Alberta Whisky logo helps tell that story by giving whisky drinkers a trusted way to identify the world-class quality and craftsmanship behind every bottle.”

Dale Nally, Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction

According to AGLC, there are 45 whisky distillers in the province, of which 43 are small craft distillers. Several Alberta-made whiskies have won prestigious awards, such as Rye Whisky of the Year at the 2024 Canadian Whisky Awards, Best Whisky Aged Over 15 Years at the 2025 Canadian Whisky Awards, as well as several gold, silver and bronze medals at the 2024 and 2025 Canadian Whisky Awards. The final logo that will represent Alberta Whisky was selected in collaboration with industry partners.

“Alberta’s Whisky Act is the milestone that moves the province from talented participant to confident leader. It protects excellence, amplifies storytelling and delivers measurable economic and cultural returns.”

Bryce Parsons, president, Alberta Craft Distillers Association and CEO of True Wild Distilling

“A clear designation helps great products stand out. It gives consumers confidence they’re choosing authentic Alberta whisky, a valuable advantage in today’s increasingly competitive global spirits market.”

Cal Bricker, president and CEO, Spirits Canada

The Alberta Whisky Act, developed in collaboration with industry, establishes a clear legal definition for Alberta Whisky and sets high made-in-Alberta standards. The new logo gives whisky drinkers around the world an easy way to identify products that meet those standards while helping strengthen Alberta Whisky's global reputation.
