The fire danger remains low across the Lac La Biche Forest Area. Wildfires can still start in cool, damp conditions. Be cautious if you’re spending time outdoors and do your part to prevent wildfires.
Wildfire situation
There is currently one active wildfire in the Lac La Biche Forest Area. It remains under control.
Since January 1, 2026, there have been 87 wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area and approximately 2,393 hectares (ha) have burned.
Fire permits are required
From March 1 to October 31, a fire permit is required for all burning activities in the Forest Protection Area (FPA), excluding campfires. The use of fireworks and exploding targets within the FPA is prohibited year-round without a permit. Permits are free and can be requested online or by calling the Lac La Biche Forest Area office at 780-623-5388. Always follow safe burning practices.
Campfire safety
Before heading outdoors, check Alberta Fire Bans for current fire advisories, restrictions and bans. Keep campfires within a proper fire ring on a non-combustible surface, never leave a fire unattended and always keep water nearby.
When extinguishing a campfire, soak it, stir it and soak it again until it is cool to the touch.
