The Ministry of Indigenous Relations works to improve social and economic outcomes for Indigenous women in Alberta.

The ministry is the Alberta government’s representative on cross-Canada work to make life safer for Indigenous women and girls. The ministry is also responsible for supporting the First Nations Women’s Council on Economic Security and the Métis Women’s Council on Economic Security.

The ministry’s goal is to advance the councils’ recommendations, within the Alberta government, on ways to achieve greater economic security for Indigenous women, their families and communities. The ministry also supports cross-ministry initiatives and projects by providing input, coordinating community input or both for projects and initiatives.
