The wildfire danger across the High Level Forest Area is low. Recent rain has helped reduce wildfire risk. Wildfires can still start in cool, damp conditions but are less likely to become severe if detected quickly. Continue to be cautious with outdoor fires.

Get a fire permit
During wildfire season, a fire permit is required in the Forest Protection Area for all burning except campfires. Permits help us track where burning projects are happening and outline to conditions for a safe burn. Request your free fire permit online or contact the High Level Forest Area office at 780-841-0132.
Prevent wildfires
Campfire safety
Abandoned campfires cause many wildfires every year in Alberta and are completely preventable. Never leave a campfire unattended and always fully extinguish it when you are done. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until the coals are cool to the touch.
Off-highway vehicle safety
When riding an off-highway vehicle (OHV) stop often and remove the debris that accumulates on your machine. Dry grass that is heated by your exhaust can start a wildfire when it falls to the ground.
