High wildfire danger
The wildfire danger for the Grande Prairie Forest Area is high due to continued dry conditions. A wildfire can ignite very easily in these conditions and quickly grow out of control. Use caution while spending time outdoors this weekend and avoid any activities that could spark a wildfire.

There are currently no active wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.

Stop the spark
A spark caused by welding or grinding can can easily start in hot, dry and windy conditions. If possible, avoid working until conditions such as heat, wind speed and relative humidity improve. It is recommended to do work in the evening, when the fire hazard is lower. Use caution when working outdoors and be aware of your surroundings. Keep sufficient water and firefighting equipment nearby and ensure that your work site is safe from hazards.
Fire advisory
A fire advisory is in effect in the Grande Prairie Forest Area due to persistent dry and windy conditions.
Under this advisory
- Existing fire permits remain valid
- New fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis
- Campfires are allowed
Prohibited
- Any burning without a valid fire permit is prohibited, except for campfires
- The fire advisory will remain in effect until the conditions improve.
