The wildfire danger is high in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. While northern parts of the forest area received rain, most of the forest remains dry and extremely flammable. Use caution when recreating outdoors this long weekend and follow the fire advisory restrictions.
Wildfire Situation
Alberta Wildfire responded to one new wildfire in the Grande Prairie Forest Area yesterday. Thanks to the hard work of firefighters and support staff, it was quickly contained and extinguished. During this time of year, there is an abundance of dead, dry grass, that can easily start a wildfire. It is extremely important to remember fire safety when outdoors. If you see smoke or fire in the forest, call 310-FIRE to report it.

There are currently no active wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.

Fire advisory
A fire advisory is in effect in the Grande Prairie Forest Area due to continued dry conditions.
Under this advisory
- Existing fire permits remain valid
- New fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis
- Campfires are allowed
Prohibited
- Any burning without a valid fire permit is prohibited, except for campfires.
