Wildfire update

Grande Prairie Forest Area - April 03, 2025

Low wildfire danger

The wildfire danger remains low in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. Elevated temperatures in the coming days will mean exposed grasses as the snow melts. A wildfire can start and spread easily in dead and dry vegetation.

Wildfire situation

Since January 1, there have been no new wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.

If you have done any burning this winter, remember to go back to the site often and ensure it's fully extinguished. Winter burn piles can reignite and become a wildfire when temperatures get warmer. Visit safe burning for tips to ensure your burn pile is extinguished.
