High wildfire danger
Due to increased temperatures the fire danger in the Edson Forest Area is now high. A wildfire can easily ignite and spread in these conditions. Heat warnings are expected to continue into the week, please use caution with any outdoor activity that could spark a fire.
Wildfire situation
Since January 1, there have been 79 wildfires in the Edson Forest Area burning a total of 1,090 hectares (ha).
There are currently 3 active wildfires and they're classified as under control. These wildfires may emit smoke. Firefighters are monitoring these wildfires for activity and will respond accordingly.

Fire permits
Fire permits are required during wildfire season in the Forest Protection Area, with the exception of a campfire. Apply for your free fire permit online or call your local forestry office. For the Edson Forest Area: 780-723-8527.
