Overview

We are seeking input from early learning and child care partners on the implementation of the Cost Control Framework and proposed Funding Formula approach as part of the transformation of the Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) system.

By 2025-26, Alberta will reduce core child care fees for families to an average of $10 per day and transition from an ELCC system funded by parent fees to one primarily funded by government.

The framework and funding formula will ensure child care operators have access to funding supports to continue to provide high-quality child care that Albertans expect while reducing parent fees and creating thousands of new, high-quality, licensed child care spaces.
