Overview
Dunvegan Bridge, built in 1960, is a vital transportation link for Alberta’s Peace region. Part of Highway 2, this suspension bridge connects Fairview and Rycroft. It accommodates approximately 2,585 vehicles daily.
The rehabilitation project will repair and upgrade aging bridge components that have deteriorated over time. These improvements will help extend the bridge’s service life, ensuring it continues to provide safe and reliable access for years to come.
Benefits
As one of only 4 bridge crossings over the Peace River, the Dunvegan Bridge plays an important role in connecting communities and supporting the movement of people, goods and services throughout the region.
When completed, the Dunvegan Bridge repairs will:
- extend the service life of Alberta’s longest vehicle suspension bridge
- preserve a critical transportation link in northern Alberta
- support industries that rely on Highway 2 to transport workers and products
