Demerit points

Demerit points, demerit driving suspensions and the Restricted Driver’s Licence Program.

Introduction

Demerit points are recorded against your driving record when you are convicted of a driving offence. Demerit points affect non-Graduated Driver’s Licence drivers and Graduated Driver’s Licence drivers. If convicted you can earn your licence back through appeals and credits. For non-Graduated Driver’s Licence, you may be able to enter the Restricted Driver’s Licence Program for work, school or medical purposes.

A driver’s licence suspension can occur due to an accumulation of demerit points.
Apply for a Restricted Driver’s Licence to drive while serving a demerit suspension for employment, educational or medical purposes.
