Overview
Periodically, holders of existing public land dispositions and the public have the opportunity to submit bids for the right to manage a specific Crown land activity identified by the Ministry of Forestry and Parks (the ministry).
The ministry will either hold an auction or tender for the specified activity.
Auctions
The ministry has added the potential for an auction of public lands to win the right to hold a disposition. Notice of an auction will be announced on the Government of Alberta (GoA) website with a link to the auctioneer’s website.
Tender
A tender notice will be advertised on the GoA website, on some social media sites and in local newspapers.
Crown land auction and tender notices
The auctioneer’s site or tender notice on the GoA website will advise you on various aspects of the auction or tender, including but not limited to:
- land description
- terms and conditions of the auction or tender
- how and where to send your submission
- closing time and date of the auction or tender
- relevant documentation
All auction and tender notices have specific requirements and may also have unique requirements that apply only to that auction or tender. Auctions and tenders can vary and there may be more than one auction or tender open at any given time, for example an aggregate auction or tender and an agriculture auction or tender.
