Centres of excellence provide central financial oversight across the Government of Alberta. They are accountable for:

  • delivering central financial advice, corporate leadership and shared governance
  • setting government policies, processes and guidance for accounting and financial management
  • overseeing budget development and planning, reporting and capital planning
  • administering tax, revenue, and economic benefit programs
  • managing government’s banking, debt management, cash management and liability risks

Ministry finance branches

Ministry finance branches support their respective executive teams to realize their ministerial mandate. They are responsible for:

  • working with various stakeholders and senior leaders in the ministry
  • collaborating with portfolio stakeholders
  • providing strategic insight to support business leaders in decision making
  • ensuring standards of corporate financial leadership are followed

Shared services delivery

Shared services delivery are the administrators for high-volume financial transactions. They take a lead role in:

  • executing highly operational and rule-based transactions for financial and accounting services
