Calgary Forest Area - October 14, 2025

Moderate wildfire danger

The wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area remains moderate. Cool temperatures combined with scattered rain and snow were observed across the area over this thanksgiving weekend.

Vegetation does not hold very much moisture at this time of year and can dry out very quickly. Please remain careful and vigilant with any activities that could spark a wildfire.

Wildfire situation

There are currently no active wildfires in the Calgary Forest Area. .

Since January 1, 2025, there have been 59 wildfires in the Calgary Forest Area which have burned almost 35 hectares. View wildfire locations, statistics and more on the Alberta Wildfire Status Dashboard. 

Fire advisory lifted

The fire advisory that had been in place is now lifted. This means that fire permits are once again being issued in the Calgary Forest Area and are required for any burning, except campfires, in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. This includes small brush piles and burn barrels.  Fire permits are free and can be requested from the Calgary Forest Area main office by calling 403-297-8800 or requested from our fire permit site.
