The wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area is moderate. Mild temperatures and dry conditions have kept the fire danger elevated, especially in areas that have not received recent moisture. Strong winds and very dry vegetation are creating conditions where wildfires can spread quickly. The fire danger will remain elevated until the area receives significant moisture.
Wildfire situation
CWF067 was discovered on November 10 and is classified as out of control at 27 hectares (ha). It is located about 2 km north of Highway 579 and is not threatening any communities or infrastructure. Firefighters, supported by helicopters, continue to work on this wildfire. Windy conditions and limited access make operations more difficult, but crews are making good progress.
CWF068 was also discovered on November 10. A quick response brought this wildfire under control and extinguished it the same day.
CWF069 was discovered on November 11 and remains out of control at 3 ha. It is located in the Porcupine Hills area, about 6 km north of Highway 520 and 10 km east of Highway 22. Firefighters, supported by helicopters, continue to work on containing this wildfire. This wildfire is not threatening any communities or infrastructure.
