The wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area remains very high. Persistent warm temperatures and windy conditions continue to dry out vegetation, creating conditions where wildfires can start easily and spread quickly.
Although northwest portions of the forest area may receive light precipitation, rainfall is expected to be localized and not significantly improve wildfire conditions. Possible thunderstorms may also bring the risk of lightning-caused wildfires. Please use caution with any outdoor activity and do your part to help prevent human-caused wildfires.
Smoke conditions
Smoke conditions have persisted in the area due to ongoing wildfire activity across Canada and the United States. There are currently no active wildfires in the Calgary Forest Area contributing to smoke conditions.

Mutual aid
Yesterday, Alberta Wildfire provided mutual aid support alongside local fire departments on a small wildfire within the municipality of Canmore. Although the wildfire was quickly contained, it serves as a reminder that current conditions remain favorable for new wildfire starts.
Fire advisory
A fire advisory remains in effect in the Calgary Forest Area due to hot and dry conditions, strong winds, and increased wildfire danger.
Under this advisory new fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis and existing fire permits remain valid.

The fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.
Wildfire situation
Since January 1, there have been 40 wildfires in the Calgary Forest Area, which have burned over 20 hectares.
