Photo of Alberta Northern Lights recipient Therese Djob

Location: Leduc, Alberta

Therese Djob is an entrepreneur and teacher and the owner of FrenchEtVoila, a French tutoring resource. When in-person classes were cancelled for the rest of the 2019-20 school year, Therese knew that some families would struggle with the move to online learning. Therese mobilized to contact parents, Anglophone and Francophone ethno-cultural organizations, and settlement agencies. She let them know that she and her team at FrenchEtVoila would be offering free online group French conversation classes for students in grades 1-6.

These online conversation classes are meant to prevent educational slide and support students and parents in the transition to online learning. They are open to any grade 1 to 6 learner who needs extra help. According to Therese, “the Coronavirus should not prevent learning, and will not compromise our children’s futures.”
