Northern Lights recipient – George and Edna Greene

For George and Edna Greene of Bonnyville, their work as volunteers at the Bonnyville Friendship Centre is a job worth doing and their business-like approach a labour of love.

The dedicated duo have become an indispensable force at the Friendship Centre since the day they walked in to ask “what can we do to help?”.  Years later, staff at the centre are still quick to point out how vital they are to the efficient and effective operation of the centre’s programs. Together George and Edna have stepped up to handle all the receiving, sorting and stocking of the centre’s foodbank shelves and have taken on the added responsibility of managing the clothing depot, faithfully showing up for duty two to three days each week.

George and Edna continue to demonstrate the kind of community spirit that is the hallmark of Alberta’s rural communities and for their service, are deserving recipients of Northern Lights Volunteer Recognition honours.
