On May 14, he was recognized for making ear protectors/ear savers for first responders and essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Location: Calgary, Alberta
When COVID-19 started, Dominic, a grade-four student, wanted to do something to help. Using his 3D printer, Dominic began printing ear protectors/ear savers for first responders and essential workers. These ear protectors are used at the back of the head and instead of the masks wrapping around the ears, they attach to the ear protector.
Since mid-March, Dominic has donated more than 300 ear protectors to hospitals, hospices, the Calgary Police Department, the Calgary Fire Department, and more. He has even sent some as far as Ontario. The Alberta Ghostbusters, an organization that fundraises for children’s hospitals, has been helping Dominic distribute the ear protectors. Dominic continues to 3D print ear protectors to help as many people as he can.
Honour the contributions of an amazing individual or group.
