Introduction
Agricultural societies have existed for more than a century in Alberta and continue to celebrate and enhance agriculture and rural life through programming, events, services and facilities.
The 292 agricultural societies are distinct from other not-for-profits as they are incorporated under the Agricultural Societies Act, and are regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation. Alberta recognizes agricultural societies as champions in their communities and provides funding to promote and recognize the value they bring to the regions they serve.
