About Alberta, Canada

The province of Alberta is located in western Canada. Its diverse landscape includes mountains, glaciers, foothills, lakes, rivers, forests, badlands, wetlands and open plains.

Alberta is known for its natural beauty, but it’s the people of our province that have made it successful. Our society is guided by shared values and linked by a deep respect and appreciation for multiculturalism and the value of hard work. English is our most common language, but with Alberta’s rich cultural diversity, dozens of languages are spoken here.

Visitors come to Alberta for business, pleasure or a combination of both. You can shop in the largest shopping mall in North America, hike where the dinosaurs once roamed, ski in the Rocky Mountains and experience life in the past at heritage sites and explore our modern urban centres.

We invite you to experience all that Alberta has to offer!

Alberta’s agriculture sector – a global exporter

Alberta’s agriculture sector is vast and export-oriented. We are the largest cattle-producing province in Canada and a significant hog producer. Alberta enjoys a global reputation for safe, high-quality agriculture and agri-food products. The reputation stems from its thorough meat inspection and licensing programs, animal tracking systems, accurate and consistent grading systems for grains and oilseeds, and various food safety initiatives for producers, processors, and consumers. These measures ensure the safety and quality of Alberta’s agriculture and agri-food products.
