Overview

In March 2016, stakeholder input was sought regarding proposed amendments to the Forest and Prairie Protection Act and related regulations.

An online survey was conducted from March 2 to April 15, 2016. The survey was open to all Albertans, and specifically distributed to stakeholders, including:

  • forest, rail, oil and gas industries
  • utility producers
  • municipalities
  • Indigenous communities
  • hunter and trapper associations
  • not-for-profits
  • newsletter subscribers

The survey asked respondents to indicate their level of support to each proposed amendment. Respondents had the opportunity to provide additional comments as to why they selected the specific level of support they did.

A discussion paper was included with the survey that provided more detail on the proposed amendments.

A report was created in May 2016 summarizing the survey feedback.
