Alberta’s 10-year Strategy to End Gender-Based Violence
Alberta’s 10-year Strategy to End Gender-Based Violence will expand on the work already underway - in government and on the front lines and ensure we are coordinating our efforts so that no one experiences gender-based violence.
While Alberta has several strategies to address aspects of gender-based violence, this overarching plan will address and prevent gender-based violence in all its forms, so we are more coordinated in our collective response.
This strategy is informed by Albertans from all corners of the province, including survivors, community organizations working on the frontlines, Indigenous leaders and academics. In total, my ministry heard from more than 500 individuals and organizations and held almost 70 meetings and engagement sessions in 11 communities as we worked to build the strategy.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their input. The work ahead is critical and it will require all of us, including individual Albertans, community partners and government, to come together to end gender-based violence within the next decade. Together, we can create a better future for all Albertans.
