This wildfire is currently classified as out of control and is estimated at approximately 13,183 hectares. It is burning 19 km northeast of Fort Fitzgerald and 28 km east of Fort Smith.

Helicopters and airtankers will continue working on the west side of this wildfire as it is the most active side showing the highest fire behaviour. Crews are working on creating remote helipads to support access for ground crews and reinforcing existing containment lines. Airtankers will be available if needed throughout the day.

Kiskatinaw River Wildfire - near Kelly Lake, B.C. (GBZ001)

The BC Wildfire Service continues to respond to the Kiskatinaw River wildfire (G70422), located southwest of Kelly Lake, B.C. The wildfire remains on the B.C. side of the border, approximately 6 km from Alberta, and is currently estimated at 6,532 hectares in size.

Due to predicted winds, this wildfire has the potential to cross the border into Alberta. Alberta Wildfire continues to work closely with BC Wildfire Service and the County of Grande Prairie to plan ahead for wildfire response.

Sousa Creek (HWF036)

HWF036 is approximately 6.7 km south of the community of Chateh, 72 km west of the Town of High Level, and 30 km east of the Town of Rainbow Lake. This wildfire is estimated at 32,935 ha in size.

Hubert Lake (WWF023)
The Hubert Lake Wildfire is located 7 km west of Fawcett, 19 km north of the community of Vega, in the Hubert Lake Wildland Provincial Park. The wildfire is currently classified as out of control and is approximately 2,779 ha in size.

Crews continue working on the northwest, southeast and northeast sides of the fire, linking containment lines into small bodies of water in each area. Natural features, such as lakes and water bodies, are helping limit the wildfire’s spread on the north, east and west sides.

Westlock County has reduced the evacuation zone allowing residents on the east side of the Pembina River to return home.

Caribou Lake (LWF090)

Caribou Lake Wildfire (LWF090) is currently burning out of control and is an estimated 62,768 ha in size.
