Wildfire situation
Hubert Lake Wildfire (WWF023)
The Hubert Lake Wildfire is located 7 km west of Fawcett, 19 km north of the community of Vega, in the Hubert Lake Wildland Provincial Park. The wildfire is classified as out of control and is approximately 2,855 hectares in size.
There was no growth on the wildfire yesterday. Cooler temperatures and recent rain have helped firefighting efforts. However, warmer weather is expected later this week. As conditions dry out again, the risk of wildfire activity will increase.
Firefighters continue to work on containing this wildfire. Crews are working on the east side of the fire, with the support of helicopters. Natural features, such as lakes and water bodies, are helping limit the wildfire’s spread on the north, east and west sides.
Structure protection crews remain staged within the affected area.
