Introduction
Water management plans are developed under the Water Act. The process for water management planning, which follows the Framework for Water Management Planning (2001), applies to all water bodies in Alberta. This includes streams, rivers, lakes, aquifers and wetlands. An Approved Water Management Plan is a statutory plan and must be considered by a director when making licence and approval decisions.
