Program and fee updates

Learn about important updates to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) and its 8 intake streams.

Employer fees are illegal

Employers and employment agencies cannot charge employees fees for a job or employment offer. If an employer is charging you a fee of any kind we can help. Call the Alberta government information line at 310-0000 and ask for Employment Standards or the Temporary Foreign Worker Advisory Office.

Intake approach

We expected significant interest in the new Tourism and Hospitality stream. To manage this interest, we adopted a staged approach to the intake process. This allows many opportunities for people to apply, rather than just one intake.

Due to even higher volume than expected for the first phase, our initial threshold has now been met. The next intake stage will be opened once these applications have been reviewed. Check back for information on the second intake phase coming soon.

Applications created but not yet completed will still be considered part of the first intake and will be accepted when complete.

Thank you for the great interest, it demonstrates the need for a dedicated stream.

Additional immigration options may be available.

About this stream

The Tourism and Hospitality Stream is for temporary foreign workers who are already working full-time in Alberta in the tourism and hospitality sector and have a full-time job offer from a qualifying Alberta employer in an eligible occupation. Candidates must have a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Candidates must also meet other minimum eligibility criteria for occupation, language, education, Alberta job offer and work experience.

Candidates apply on their own using the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program portal. Learn more about eligibility criteria, how to apply, and what to do after you are nominated.
