Alberta students are entitled to welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments that respect diversity and nurture a sense of belonging and a positive sense of self.
Alberta Education is working with school authorities to develop final standards for seclusion, physical restraint and time-out in schools. These standards will be a basis for school authorities to develop policies, procedures and practices. The new standards will be in place by the end of October. Until this time, interim standards are in effect, as directed by ministerial order.
