The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area remains high. Very strong winds and dry vegetation are contributing to an increased risk.

RWF036 remains classified as out of control and has grown to approximately 1,028 hectares in size. The growth on this wildfire was due to strong winds and extremely dry vegetation in the area. This wildfire is located approximately 5 km north of the James-Wilson Provincial Recreation Area. Firefighters, heavy equipment and night vision-equipped helicopters worked overnight to support containment efforts. Additional crews, helicopters and heavy equipment will continue working on the wildfire today. Conditions have moderated slightly, with lower temperatures, lighter winds and higher humidity in the area. Airtankers will be requested as conditions allow. Aircraft may be skimming or scooping water from nearby lakes, including Cow Lake, Swan Lake or Burnstick Lake. Please give aircraft space to operate safely.
Smoke from this wildfire remains visible from nearby communities; however, there is currently no risk to nearby communities.
Clearwater County has issued an evacuation alert for the area surrounding the wildfire. Residents of Mountain View County should visit the county website for additional information.
Due to the proximity of this wildfire to Highway 40 (Forestry Trunk Road), portions of the highway remain closed. Visit 511Alberta for current road closure information and updates.
Please avoid the area and allow firefighting operations to continue safely and effectively.
