Moderate wildfire danger
The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area remains moderate. Recent moisture has helped reduce wildfire risk, however, conditions can change quickly. While cooler temperatures and some moisture are helping, strong winds can quickly dry grass and other vegetation, increasing the potential for fast-moving wildfires.
Wildfire situation
Firefighters in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area responded to five new wildfires today. Thanks to quick public reporting and readily available crews, most were quickly extinguished.
RWF015 is approximately five hectares in size and is classified as being held. This means that, given current conditions and resources, it is not expected to grow beyond its current boundaries. Two other wildfires are classified as under control.
Since January 1, 2026, the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area has responded to 17 wildfires.

Fire permits conditions
Burning must not take place under current wind conditions. High winds increase the risk of fire spreading quickly and becoming difficult to control. Please ensure all open burning is paused until conditions improve and remain within permit limits.
