Overview
You must renew your driver training school licence every 12 months. You will receive a renewal notice 3 months prior to the date your driver training school licence expires. You can renew your driver training school licence if you meet all requirements.
Requirements
To renew a driver training school licence, you must submit the following to MELT and Licensing Standards (MLS):
- a completed Driver Training School Licence Application form (PDF, 64 KB)
- the Driver Training Records Report must be completed for the preceding year
- 2020 Driver Training Records Report (XLSX, 1.9 MB)
- 2020 How to Complete the Driver Training Records Report (PDF, 189 KB)
- 2021 Driver Training Records Report (XLSX, 2 MB)
- 2021 How to Complete the Driver Training Records Report (PDF, 238 KB)
- a signed Driver Training Code of Conduct and Ethics (PDF, 622 KB)
- an updated Record of Licensed Instructors
- an updated Record of Driver Training Vehicles (PDF, 132 KB)
- an updated list of all current owners/directors
- a copy of annual filing
- a current and signed copy of the Surety Bond or a bond continuation certificate, and
- a Surety Bond is not applicable to school boards, government agencies, or organizations that provide training for no compensation.
- a receipt for the $175 licence renewal fee of (if applicable). This payment must be made at any Alberta registry agent.
A cancelled or suspended Driver Training School licence cannot be renewed. A Driver Training School licence will not be issued or renewed if there are outstanding fines or account balances.
