Overview

In 2015, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that physician-assisted death, now called ‘medical assistance in dying’, would become legal in Canada on June 6, 2016. This ruling created broad and sensitive questions that the Government of Alberta needed to consider in regulating the delivery of medical assistance in dying in Alberta

To help determine the best response, a MLA Consultation Panel was set up to gather input from Albertans. The Panel solicited input through an online survey, written submissions, and meetings with stakeholders.

A summary report was completed of the feedback the panel received during the consultation process.
