Overview
We are seeking input to help inform a made-in-Alberta strategy that guides how we maintain, conserve and sustainably manage the province's nature for years to come.
The well-being of all people in Alberta depends on healthy landscapes and the many goods and services nature provides. With Alberta's growing population expected to reach 7.1 million by 2050, a long-term strategy is needed to help our province and economy continue to grow while sustaining the benefits we receive from nature for current and future generations.

Nature is foundational to the human experience; we have shaped nature and nature has shaped us.
Nature encompasses all the components of the natural world, including the concept of ‘biodiversity’ or the variety of life on earth. Nature includes the plants, animals and landscapes, their interaction and ecological processes, and the benefits, or ‘ecosystem services’ that people receive from nature.
Ecosystem services are essential to people living in Alberta to sustain a healthy and prosperous way of life, such as abundant clean air and water, fertile soil for farming, flood and erosion control, wildlife habitat, carbon dioxide absorption, and supplying the natural resources that are the foundation of our economy.
