Lac La Biche Forest Area - October 31, 2025

Moderate wildfire danger

The wildfire danger in the Lac La Biche Forest Area is moderate. Wildfires can start and spread in cooler conditions but are less likely to become severe if detected quickly. Be cautious while recreating or operating in the forest area and always extinguish your campfire. 

Wildfire statistics

There are currently 6 active wildfires burning in the Lac La Biche Forest Area and all are classified as under control.

Since January 1, 2025, there have been 248 wildfires burning a total of 78,207 hectares (ha) in the Lac La Biche Forest Area.

Wildfire season ending

The wildfire season ends on November 1. Fire permits are no longer required for burning in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Wildfires can start any time of year when conditions are dry. Follow our safe burning guidelines to help prevent human-caused wildfires. Firefighters still respond to wildfires in the winter. If you spot a wildfire, report it by calling 310-FIRE (3473). 

Winter burning

Wait until there are 15 cm of snow on the ground before taking on a burning project in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Fire permits are no longer required after November 1, but following safe winter burning practices is always important.
