The fire danger is very high in the Lac La Biche Forest Area due to higher temperatures and windy conditions. This means that in the event of a wildfire, firefighters expect to see an increase in fire behaviour.
Wildfires can start and spread very easily in these conditions. Please use caution if you are spending time or working outside, as any spark could cause a wildfire to ignite.
If you see smoke or flame in the forest and suspect it's a wildfire, call 310-FIRE.

The fire restriction will remain in effect until conditions improve or further escalation is required. To learn more, visit Alberta Fire Bans.
Wildfire situation

Mutual aid wildfires
Over the weekend, Alberta Wildfire assisted with several wildfires that are located outside of the Lac La Biche Forest Area.
Alberta Wildfire is assisting Sturgeon County with wildfire LCU002, which is located in the Redwater Provincial Recreation Area. There are firefighters, heavy equipment and a helicopter on scene. Airtankers are also working to contain the spread of the wildfire.
For more information on this wildfire please visit the Sturgeon County website.

Spring weather conditions
Spring is a critical time for wildfires when the dry and dead vegetation becomes exposed as the snow melts. As we continue to experience warm temperatures, the grass and other vegetation dries out becoming highly flammable. Windy conditions can cause a wildfire to start easily and spread quickly.
A high of 21 ℃ is expected today, with winds coming from the northwest at 20 km/h and gusts up to 40 km/h throughout the day.
