This page will be updated once per week on Tuesdays. For real-time updates, check the ACO Digital Service banner daily.

When a consultation pause is in effect for an Indigenous community, all Consultation Timeline and Consultation Adequacy Decisions associated with ‘The Government of Alberta’s Guidelines on Consultation with First Nations on Land and Natural Resource Management’ and ‘The Government of Alberta’s Guidelines on Consultation with Metis Settlements on Land and Natural Resource Management’ (as applicable) are paused for that community. Consultation activities should not take place during the consultation pause.

For proposed projects where all procedural aspects of consultation were completed prior to a consultation pause, proponents may proceed with submitting records to the ACO for an adequacy review. The ACO will not issue consultation adequacy decisions during consultation pauses. Any additional consultation required, as directed in an ‘More Information Request’, may be subject to a consultation pause, as per the listing on this page.

When timelines are reinstated, all consultation activities can be resumed with Indigenous communities as of their reinstatement date.
