The Heritage Railway Operating Guidelines consolidate rules for heritage railway operators.
If you feel the Heritage Railway Operating Guidelines do not accurately reflect the rules that apply to your operations, we will work with you to develop alternate rules. All alternate rules must still maintain safety standards.
Once the alternate rules are developed, you must submit the alternate rules to the Railway Administrator for approval. Only the Railway Administrator can approve alternate rules for your operations. If the Railway Administrator approves your alternate rules then the Heritage Railway Operating Guidelines document no longer applies.
You must continue to abide by the Railway (Alberta) Act and its regulations in addition to the Heritage Railway Operating Guidelines document or alternative rules approved by the Railway Administrator.
