Improve Inter-jurisdictional Cooperation

This strategy is meant to encourage collaboration amongst neighbouring Canadian and American jurisdictions with grizzly bear populations.

Biologists and managers with Environment and Protected Areas consult regularly with their colleagues in Parks Canada and the United States Geological Survey and participate on the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee.

Identify, Track and Maintain Habitat

This strategy has involved identifying the parts of Alberta that serve as core and secondary habitat for grizzly bears.

Grizzly bear range has been mapped in all Bear Management Areas (BMAs) in the province, with additional habitat research provided by the Foothills Research Institute.
