The wildfire danger in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is currently high. While some rain has fallen, it was not enough to significantly lower the fire danger level. Dry grasses and other vegetation, mixed with warm, windy conditions can drive up the fire danger quickly.
Wildfires can ignite and spread rapidly under these conditions. Please exercise caution when spending time or working outdoors, as even a small spark may trigger a wildfire.
Wildfire situation
Since January 1, there have been 27 wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, burning a total of 10 hectares.
