The Alberta government, makes every effort to ensure our water, air and land are safe for all Albertans to enjoy. Through education and prevention programs, we work with Albertans to encourage compliance with our environmental legislation.
When individuals, companies, or municipalities fail to comply with our legislation, the department has several options to ensure compliance including:
- warning letters
- violation tickets
- administrative penalties
- orders
- prosecutions
