Alberta Wildlife Watch Program

Tracking animal-vehicle collisions (AVC) along provincial highways to help reduce collisions, improve driver safety and protect wildlife.

The Alberta Wildlife Watch Program collects and analyzes data on animal-vehicle collisions (AVCs) throughout Alberta to:

  • reduce AVCs on provincial highways
  • improve driver safety
  • minimize the impacts of highways on wildlife populations

The program identifies AVC-prone locations to:

  • provide high-quality data for effective decision-making
  • inform the development of policies and standards
