Location: Calgary, Alberta
Since 1975, the Pakistan Canada Association of Calgary (PCAC) has been working to promote harmony, understanding and positive relationships among Canada’s many ethnic communities, helping Albertans to connect through cultural and social events.
While COVID-19 has put a damper on such social gatherings, it has not deterred PCAC from its efforts to safely bring the community together. The group has organized car rallies to show its appreciation of front-line workers and has worked to promote the importance of public health measures. Recognizing the financial burden that has accompanied the pandemic, the association initiated food hamper drives to help those impacted get over the rough spots.
From those in the executive to the many dedicated volunteers who make up the ranks of the PCAC, the organization shares the common purpose of strengthening the community.
