Location: Grande Prairie, Alberta
It seems the volunteers with Meals on Wheels Grande Prairie just can’t satisfy their appetite to help their neighbours in the northern Alberta community.
Since 1972, volunteers have literally been the 'driving' force behind the community non-profit organization, delivering hot, tasty meals to clients who, due to illness, injury or mobility issues are unable to cook themselves. From Monday to Friday, these volunteers contribute their time and the use of their vehicles to meet the nutritional needs of some of Grande Prairie’s most vulnerable citizens.
More than that, volunteers are a link to the community, with their visits being an important social connection and a welcome break in the day for clients. Meals on Wheels volunteers provide the opportunity for seniors and others who need that helping hand to remain at home, independent – and well-fed.
