Drive Happiness supports independent living for seniors by providing them with mobility support. The organization’s volunteers have gone above and beyond to provide transportation services to those in need during COVID-19.
People with critical needs, such as those receiving dialysis, chemotherapy, blood products, and intravenous drugs, have seen their transportation options diminish or disappear during the pandemic. As other organizations have withdrawn or pulled back, Drive Happiness has stepped in to fill the gap while continuing to provide service to their current clients, who are at high risk and often need extra help.
Drive Happiness volunteers do a superb job of meeting their clients' individual needs. At a time when guidelines around social distancing and the use of personal protective equipment were unclear, the organization worked diligently to create policies and procedures and obtain equipment to ensure the safety of both volunteers and clients. These policies and procedures have now been adopted by others across the province.
