As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many people have had to cancel or postpone large gatherings, including birthday parties. Amanda Chubbs decided that birthdays should still be celebrated but from a distance. Amanda has been organizing 'birthday parties on wheels' in Fort McMurray.
Through a Facebook group, Amanda organizes fleets of drivers to drive by homes, delivering birthday wishes from a distance. Amanda and the birthday party volunteers have done birthday parties for community members celebrating their first birthday as well as a party for someone celebrating their 85th. Amanda’s commitment to bringing people together, even from a distance, helps build community resilience and reminds us to look for reasons to celebrate.
