Overview
We’re introducing a new one-time Alberta Energy Rebate to help with the cost of groceries, fuel and other everyday essentials. Starting July 1, eligible Albertans can apply to get $100 through our secure online portal.
The rebate will replace the Fuel Tax Relief Program that would have taken effect on July 1. The rebate provides 50% more in savings per person than the average Albertan would have saved on fuel taxes over 3 months, while offering more choice and flexibility on how to spend it.
Eligibility
To be eligible:
- you must be 18 years of age or older as of July 1, 2026
- you must be an Alberta resident
- you must have filed your 2025 tax return
- your household total income must be $225,000 or less
For the purposes of the Alberta Energy Rebate eligibility, household is defined as a single individual or 2 individuals who are married or in a common-law relationship.
Albertans 18 and over living at the same address, but who are not married or common-law, would be considered separate households. This includes:
- roommates
- children over the age of 18
- other adult family members living in the same home
Each adult will need to apply separately to receive a payment.
Albertans receiving the Alberta Seniors Benefit and those enrolled in Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) and Income Support will be automatically enrolled to receive their rebate. No application is required.
