Biography

Prior to politics, Demetrios led the Calgary office of a national communication consulting firm and completed his PhD in political science, specializing in ethnic conflict. He has also completed training in mediation and arbitration.

Demetrios was first elected as the MLA for Calgary-Bow in 2019 and served as the Minister of Advanced Education. In 2023, he was re-elected and appointed as the Minister of Education.

As Minister of Education, he believes in strengthening spelling, reading and math skills, and as a parent to 5 children, has a vested interest in keeping our education system world-class.
