Overview

As part of Alberta at Work, Workforce Strategies grants support organizations with innovative solutions that will help Albertans develop new skills and assist employers and industry to grow their workforce. Workforce Strategies grant funding is intended to provide eligible applicants with the ability to implement projects that support skills, employment and workforce development needs.

Applications for funding, received by the deadline September 9, 2022, 11:59 pm MDT, are being evaluated. Applicants will be notified of results in Fall 2022. No updates will be provided while applications are being assessed.

Funding

Up to $1.5 million in funding is available per project. Program funding is limited and not every eligible project will receive funding.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants

Eligible entities must have a minimum of 2 year’s organizational experience related to the grant stream to which they are applying.

Eligible projects

The Workforce Strategies grant has 3 streams. Each stream has different activities and outcomes. Eligible applicants can apply to the following:

  1. Skills Development Stream – to support the re-skilling of unemployed Albertans by providing training and/or services resulting in new skills development and employment. 
  2. Regional and Employer-Focused Stream – to support region or employer-led projects that address regional workforce challenges.
  3. Industry-Focused Stream – to support industry-led projects that address provincial workforce needs.
