Alberta's government is providing $17 million to 15 sexual assault centres and the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services. This includes an additional $3.3 million toward the government’s mandate commitment to increase funding for sexual assault centres by $10 million by 2028-29.

The government is also investing $3.7 million in annual funding to eight child advocacy centres, increasing access to specialized, coordinated care for children, youth and families affected by sexual violence and abuse.

Alberta’s government works closely with sexual assault centres and child advocacy centres to better understand the unique role each organization plays and improve access to supports. Strengthening information sharing and service coordination helps ensure that vulnerable Albertans receive timely, responsive supports.

Sexual assault centres support people of all ages affected by sexual violence through crisis response, counselling and long-term therapeutic care. Child advocacy centres provide coordinated, multi-disciplinary supports for children and youth impacted by abuse or neglect, helping reduce retraumatization as they move through the justice system.
