Overview
You must provide an update when:
- there is a change to the name of your Alberta corporation name, cooperative, or limited liability partnership
- your Alberta corporation or cooperative has amalgamated with another corporation or cooperative
- your business no longer operates in BC, Manitoba or Saskatchewan, or your Alberta limited liability partnership registration has been cancelled.
- there is a change of home jurisdiction (from Alberta to another province or country)
- there is a change to the BC, Manitoba or Saskatchewan attorney for your business

- there is a change to your cooperative or limited liability partnership’s BC, Manitoba or Saskatchewan head office
- you want to reinstate or restore your corporation or cooperative's registration in BC, Manitoba or Saskatchewan
There is no cost to register these updates but you may need a name search and reservation when there is a new name for the corporation, cooperative or partnership.
BC and Saskatchewan Corporate Registry will mail a new certificate when your corporation or cooperative name change, amalgamation or reinstatement/restoral has been processed.
Alberta Corporate Registry will advise BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan when your Alberta corporation or limited partnership has been dissolved. The office of the Director of Cooperatives will advise these provinces when your Alberta cooperative has been dissolved. This will generally result in the automatic cancellation of your extra-provincial registration in these provinces.
You must directly report cancellation of your Alberta limited liability partnership to BC, Manitoba or Saskatchewan.
